Our Story
(From the Bride’s Perspective)
Ryan and I met at a Kappa / Sigma Chi
Exchange in May 2002. An exchange is an
informal dance or social event, for all those
who may be unfamiliar with the term. I was not
going to go to the exchange because I had popped
out my kneecap in a sorority softball game.
However, I was essentially “kidnapped” and
dragged there by a sorority friend. As I was
limping around the dance floor, I ran into Ryan
who was dancing in a fun, crazy type way. I was
drawn to his charming smile and goofy antics.
We were having a great time dancing, when a 50’s
swing-type song came on. Ryan picked me up and
tried to flip me over. Mid-air I started
yelling, “my knee, my knee”. Over the music,
Ryan couldn’t hear my cries. “Plop”, he flopped
me down right on to my knee. It hurt, but
luckily it did not pop out. I was finally able
to explain what had happened and Ryan helped me
over to a nearby chair. He was very sweet and
considerate, characteristics I would come to
treasure. He made sure I was okay and then I
told him to keep dancing. Later that evening,
after doing his “homework” (he asked my sorority
friend, Andrea, if I had a boyfriend), Ryan
asked me for my number. The rest was history… |
